Crash Course on Interventional Pain Management
(Course code: IV)

Course Duration: It is a five days Aesculap Academy training on pain management where stresses have been given to the practical aspects of interventional pain management including hands on practice session on mannequin.

Eligibility: Applicant must be a medical graduate (MBBS) from any recognized university. He must have completed one-year residency from a recognized Hospital in the following disciplines: Anaesthesiology, Orthopaedics, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery, and General Medicine. Desirable: Post-graduate degree/diploma in the above disciplines.

Schedule: The training programme is arranged 2/3 times per year. The date of commencement, details of course & course fees are announced well in advance.

Course fee:

15,000.00 INR for Indian participants.
750.00 USD for Foreign participants & NRIs.
This course fee does not include food & lodging which has to be arranged by participant. If requested we may assist in arranging accommodation.
Spot registration is possible only if there are available seats. For spot registration (including registration done 2 weeks prior to the commencement of a particular course) participants need to pay additional Rs. 3000.00 (USD 150.00 for foreigners & NRIs) along with the usual course fee. We do not encourage spot registration.

Day-1: Didactic Lectures

· Introduction, Definition & Classification of pain.
· Anatomy & Physiology of pain, Pharmacotherapy of pain.
· How to examine a patient with pain.
· Evaluation of patients with back pain.
· Common pain syndromes, evaluation and management.
· Role of Acupuncture in different painful conditions.

Day-2 to 5: Patient examinations/ hands-on mannequin workshop/ Live cases

The following topics will be covered with patients, video and mannequin. Live cases will be demonstrated at operating room also.

5. Celiac Plexus Block,
6. Lumber Discography,
7. Ganglion Impar block,
8. Caudal Epidural block & Epidurogram,
9. Sacral Nerve Root Block,
10. Radio Frequency Procedures,
11. Suprascapular Nerve Block,
12. Lumber Transforaminal Epidural/ Selective nerve root block,
13. Lumber Facet Joint block,
14. Sacro-Iliac Joint Block,
15. Ozone nucleolysis / Ozone Disectomy / Ozonucleolysis,
16. Prolozone therapy,
17. Different forms of ozone therapy in Pain Management
18. Peripheral Joint injections (like Shoulder/ Knee/ Wrist/ Ankle joint injections)
19. Pyriformis block
20. Lat. Fem. Cut. Nerve block.
21. Acupuncture procedures

(Actual demonstration schedule varies according to availability of cases. About 90% of the above mentioned procedures would be demonstrated. Video demonstration/discussion will be done for those cases that will not be available.)

Comments: Five to Ten candidates per batch for five days.
